Who Needs a Dozen Roses?

A dozen chocolate covered strawberry marshmallow rosesWhen you’ve got chocolate covered strawberry marshmallow roses???

I found these Kraft strawberry marshmallows while shopping in the States (I’m sure I’ve never seen them here in Canada before!  why, oh why not???) and had intended on making these for Valentine’s Day.  But then I ended up away for the week visiting with my mom and it just didn’t happen.

But today it did.  I guess you could say we’re celebrating the end of Valentine’s month?  Or possibly the fact that Spring in only 3 weeks away?  But however you look at it, the treat was yummy and pretty and easy.  So easy, your kids can help you do it!

All you need to do is melt 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon of shortening.  Then dip your skewered strawberry marshmallows and let them set in the fridge (we placed ours on a foil lined plate).  Then when you’re ready to serve them, just arrange them in a pretty champagne flute or vase or mason jar and you’re ready to go!  The only thing that would have made these better are brightly-coloured sprinkles to dip the tips in before letting the chocolate set.Fun and pretty -- easy for kids to help!
