Here’s another thing I worked on yesterday afternoon while the kidlets were working on their school work (in between helping them and helping/encouraging/poking-prodding-dropkicking Noah to continue his work).
We planted some flowers in the spring and one that came up with a vengeance was our Four O’Clocks. According to Wikipedia, these things are also called Mirabilis Jalapa (and mirabilis is apparently Latin for “wonderful”). It’s an annual flower and ours grew about 2-3 feet tall. These things are super easy to grow and even managed to survive the onslaught of squirrels we’ve experienced this year. They’re also really pretty when the blooms open up each day, late in the afternoon and stay open all night long.
Well, our bushes are starting to go to seed so we’ve begun gathering the seeds and bringing them inside. I made up some quick little paper envelopes with some bits of scrapbook paper we had on hand and put a couple dozen seeds into each packet. Now they’re ready to give away to friends, Gramma, and maybe as thank you notes.
