Parliament Hill with Kidlets

Yes!  It is completely do-able!  I was worried about how well the kids would handle the walking and looking at historical plaques and statues and things.  But it turned out to be a perfect way to spend a Labour Day weekend Saturday!  The staff at the information booth at the hill are super helpful and everyone we encountered there was incredibly friendly (from security guards to tour guides to elevator operators)! My sister-in-law was in town for a visit and she hasn’t been a tourist in Ottawa in years so we decided to find some fun things to check out with her.  We headed downtown on the Saturday and found free parking at the World Exchange Plaza. From there it’s a short walk to the Capital Information Centre, Sparks Street Pedestrian Mall (where you’re bound to find a busker or two), the War Memorial, and Parliament Hill.We packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed the sights!  We wandered around Byward Market and stopped for some fresh produce, flowers, and bakery treats. We didn’t see everything we would have liked to but that would probably take several more trips to do!
