Tulip Festival 2012

In May we managed to make it out to Tulip Festival while Brian had time off around his ordination.  What?!  Did I miss that, too?  Oh yeah, Brian finally got ordained to the priesthood…  😉 .  Unfortunately, I didn’t get any photos of the event to share but it was a very full weekend, a very nice service with lots of friends and family attending, and other than Anna throwing up from all the excitement (yeesh!) it was a really great weekend!  I even sewed my dress to wear to the ceremony — the day before…

Anyway…  If you love flowers in full bloom on a warm spring day, next to a lake and canal surrounded by people with cameras and bicycles and strollers…  Well, you should head over to Dow’s Lake in Ottawa in May!

This year marked the 60th anniversary of the Tulip Festival here in Ottawa and the flowers did not disappoint!  We missed seeing all the arts vendors and the Dutch heritage displays from previous years with the changes to the festival format this year, but we definitely enjoyed our evening stroll.

So many beautiful tulips to take in…

I think I love how Tulip Festival photos are never complete without some random tourists in the background trying to take photos of their own!

And just a little bit of cotton candy as a treat to share.  This was new to the Small Fry and he wasn’t quite sure what to do with the stuff.  He ended up eating a little and then falling asleep covered in blue stickiness in his car seat on the way home.  What a mess!

Beautiful pictures Sarah! Man, you guys do so much fun stuff around here – we really need to take more advantage of the stuff that goes on!

Love the picture of you and Levi – you look gorgeous in that shot!

Also, I need to see the dress you wore to Brian’s ordination!!

We’ve been trying to be intentional about finding adventures even at home. I want the kidlets to have a love of adventure and exploring the world around them. It would be great to travel far with them one day, but for now, I’d like to teach them to find things to experience closer by. 🙂
Also, working on getting photos of the infinity dress. Hoping for sunnier days this week!
