I have been slowly replacing all the light bulbs that were in this house when we moved in with higher quality, more energy efficient bulbs. The last tenants either liked things dim or used a lot of floor lamps — I can’t stand how dark it gets sometimes. Especially now that winter is here in all it’s dull gray glory.
My sewing space is in our unfinished basement, set back from the space where the kids play and read. Although my table is right under the only window down here, not much light comes in — and certainly not at night when I do most of my sewing and crafting. Enter new light bulbs! And not just any bulbs, cool white daylight bulbs! These things are great! I got the ones that are equivalent to the old 100 watt bulbs and changed out all the lights in the basement for these this weekend. Now, when I flip the switch and come downstairs, it always feels like the middle of the afternoon on a sunny day. Some people don’t like the cold brightness of these bulbs, but they’re perfect for showing truer colours on my fabric and they’re so bright that I can see so much better when I’m sewing!
