I took a few days break from posting — life was happening. Brian and I got to go out to dinner and a movie without kidlets in tow on Thursday night. We saw Iron Lady, which I highly recommend! In fact, I’ve now seen it twice because I had won advance screening tickets and had gone with my sister (love doing that!!). So definitely a worthwhile movie!
Anyway, with a bit of a break over the weekend we were able to visit with some friends we hadn’t seen in months, get some errands done, and play with the kidlets. I also completed the reading cushion I was making for Anna’s room — but I need more stuffing so pictures and a tutorial of that are coming (just later in the week).
After my weekend break from exercise, I was more than ready to get back into things last night. I usually exercise at night because the kidlets are sleeping (so, no Levi trying to steal my weights or trip me while he copycats) and Brian is gone to work. That means an empty house, lots of space, and some much appreciated peace and quiet. I kind of like being stuck in my own head while I sweat. Is that weird?
A friend asked me the other day how running was going and I have to say — I haven’t been running since November. I CAN NOT handle the cold and snow (and currently ice) that is out there. I know, others manage the whole winter running thing but I’m not up to that challenge yet. I’ve been filling my void with The Biggest Loser workout DVDs, which I love! And so far this month I’ve lost 8 pounds — granted some of those 8 pounds were the results of Christmas chocolate consumption. But what can I say? I’m a sucker for the creamy goodness of a Lindor! Still, scales moving downward are an excellent thing in my books.
I realized Sunday night that I was getting a little bored of the one DVD I’ve been working out with for the last month and was starting to think about changing it up. And tonight, I decided to lace up my runners and go for a run. At best guess, I’ve just completed a 1 km run. In circles. In the basement. Surrounded by Legos and laundry. Weird, I know. And I got bored looking at the same walls and floor, so here I am taking a visual break. But I loved it! It felt great to be running again.
I think I may do this more often. Ten minute run, couple minutes rest (to get out of the tedium of the loop), ten minute run… etc… It might work for a little while. And I can console myself with the thought that spring is coming. Just 2 more months and I can get back outdoors!
