My Pumpkin Failure

At our house, we love pumpkin!  We love to go from this:

To these:

I now have two and half jumbo pumpkins’ worth of roasted, pureed pumpkin in little baggies in my freezer.  So “What’s the failure?” you’re asking.  Well, yes, the pumpkin pie squares were great, the kidlets love to eat roasted pumpkin seeds, and we’ve got plans to make a couple dozen of our favourite pumpkin muffins.  But I’ve now learned that only Levi and I will eat savoury roasted pumpkin (butter, garlic, salt and pepper) for dinner.  Okay, minor set back.  I’ll go back to cooking meat without too much complaining.  The big failure though — well that deep dish crustless pumpkin pie up there looks really good, doesn’t it?  Yeah, well…  Something was, er…  missing.  I completely forgot to add the sugar!  Learn from my mistake:  do NOT attempt to make pumpkin pie while wrangling a screaming baby and two overly rambunctious kidlets!  Bad things will happen…

Next time, I’ll remember the sugar.  Promise.
